Transmission Help

Recommended Posts

I'm in the process of installing my AX-15  and it just won't go in the last quarter inch of the engine.  It seams to get hung up and the lip of those alignment pins on the engine. I have also checked to make sure that there are only one set of pins on the engine.   Everyone says not to use the bolts to pull the two together.  But it keeps getting hung up on that lip.  If those aligment pins were not there the there would no probelem.    Also I can feel the transmissin engaged in the clutch.  Any help will be apreciated..

Ewww. Not as sure then. I just rebuilt mine and reinstalled with an external slave (swapped from internal). I had a little lube on the splines of the input shaft and make sure your shift tower isn't hitting. I took mine off then reinstalled after the crossmember was installed.

What are you swapping from? Did you make sure you had the correct pilot bushing/bearing?

Otherwise, yeah. Just wiggle it back and forth a little, up and down, and it should just slide on. I've also seen people say they've used longer bolts with heads cut off threaded into the engine block for extra alignment help.

I'm not super familiar with the ax15, but the lips on the dowel pins, are they normal? All the dowel pins I've ever seen have been smooth.
