Master7122
I'm looking to getting rid of the vacuum actuated 2 piece shaft in my Comanche and I don't know what years I can use for axle shafts. I want the bigger u-joints and I read the 95-96 shafts I can use, then I read I can use 96-99? Just looking for some clarification
gogmorgo
The later shafts are '96+ I think. But if you're not needing to upgrade your shafts, simply locking over the CAD is more than sufficient, and much easier (and cheaper) than replacing the shafts outright. And if you do replace the 2-piece shaft with a 1-piece, you'll have to put a seal into a spot in the pumpkin that not only isn't guaranteed to be machined to accept a seal, you have to pull the carrier to put it in. RynoMJ
I did what gogomorgo did. Locked the CAD over until I was doing gears and a front locker than just installed the 1 piece shaft and the new seals at the same time.
Master7122
I already locked the cad, I'm putting in new gears and a locker so I thought now would be a good time to change from 2 piece to 1 piece shafts

Eagle
96-01 XJ also any ABS XJ or ZJ and any TJ. Many (most?) ZJs had CV joints, not u-joints.

FrankTheDog
All 4 of my ZJ's had ujoints. ZJ's with NP231's and 242's have ujoints. All had ABS.
