LED headlights I've never seen before.

The Amazon ad for the new Trucklites also shows an anti-flicker module that appears to be a PWM device. Pulse Width Modulation is the basis of most AC variable speed drives (in industrial applications). Is flicker really a problem with LED headlights? What is the cause of the flicker? Is the DC current from the alternator not rectified sufficiently? Does it still have some inherent waveform or modulation? Does the module further "flatten" the DC power?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Flickering is only a problem with ignition systems that use PWM (pulse-width modulation) devices. It's my understanding that the PWM stuff causes high freq ripples in the 12VDC power. I used the anti-flicker harnesses on my JK because they came with the Truck-Lites I got for the JK. It's not so bad that you can't use LED lamps w/o them; many people don't use the harnesses at all.

I have never noticed any flicker with these lights.  And I did a whole lot of driving last summer with the Comanche - 2 different round trips from the Pacific to Atlantic to Pacific trips in the Comanche.  First trip was San Diego to Boston and back to San Diego.  Second trip was up the Pacific Coast from San Diego to Victoria, B.C, to Michigan to South Carolina and home to San Diego.
