krustyballer16
Anybody ever seen or used these headlights before? Not any more expensive than the halogens I'm running now...
desbennett004
I haven't seen them either. Kinda ugly though... would make my MJ look like it had cataracts. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk They are ugly but are a DRL and the lows and brights both look really bright but not sure if any brighter than my halogen setup
HOrnbrod
I've never seen them before, and I never want to see them again.
madog7200
These remind me of bumble bee from the transformers movies for some reason? Anyone else? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
johnj92131
For that kind of money, just buy a pair of TruckLites. I got mine on Craigslist for $250 and have seen others for $300. Amazon has them for $162: https://www.amazon.com/Truck-Lite-27450C-LED-Headlamp-High/dp/B013FX3OEC/ref=sr_1_1?m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&s=warehouse-deals&ie=UTF8&qid=1482572176&sr=8-1&keywords=truck+lite+led Or new ones for $180 https://www.amazon.com/Truck-Lite-27450C-Headlamp/dp/B007ED7HNY/ref=sr_1_3?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1482572372&sr=1-3&keywords=truck+lite+headlights
Keyav8r
The Amazon ad for the new Trucklites also shows an anti-flicker module that appears to be a PWM device. Pulse Width Modulation is the basis of most AC variable speed drives (in industrial applications). Is flicker really a problem with LED headlights? What is the cause of the flicker? Is the DC current from the alternator not rectified sufficiently? Does it still have some inherent waveform or modulation? Does the module further "flatten" the DC power? Inquiring minds want to know!
gogmorgo
I don't know if it's an issue with the naked eye, although slo-mo video footage of LED lights always catches then blinking, full-on off and on.
Keyav8r
Interesting. Any explanation for the on-off-on-off..... phenomenon?
HOrnbrod
Flickering is only a problem with ignition systems that use PWM (pulse-width modulation) devices. It's my understanding that the PWM stuff causes high freq ripples in the 12VDC power. I used the anti-flicker harnesses on my JK because they came with the Truck-Lites I got for the JK. It's not so bad that you can't use LED lamps w/o them; many people don't use the harnesses at all.
johnj92131
I have never noticed any flicker with these lights. And I did a whole lot of driving last summer with the Comanche - 2 different round trips from the Pacific to Atlantic to Pacific trips in the Comanche. First trip was San Diego to Boston and back to San Diego. Second trip was up the Pacific Coast from San Diego to Victoria, B.C, to Michigan to South Carolina and home to San Diego. HOrnbrod
No flicker for me either. MJs don't use PWM devices normally, although the Spal fan controller I use is supposedly a PWM device. It must have a good filter though because it doesn't affect the headlamps.
Keyav8r
So, the module is probably a "filter" or rectifier to reduce or eliminate the DC ripple effect caused by PWM devices. Inquiring mind satisfied for now. Merry Christmas to one and all!
ParadiseMJ
I've never seen them before, and I never want to see them again. Man, I'm right there with you. All that crammed into 5x7 looks goofy.

pitbull4x4
I found some LED headlights on ebay for $65 and work great. They have 15 LEDS (3 rows of 5) Work great and can see fantastic at night. Sorry but can't post any pictures
mikekaz1
I don't mind the trucklites. but I find most of the aftermarket headlights, whether halogen, hid or led to be incredibly hideous.
gogmorgo
:yeah that: I'm all for newer technology but if it doesn't look like it belongs on the truck...
