chris71
so i done the ba 10 to ax 15 swap and i am trying to figure out what master & slave cylinder to use ? the ax 15 and 231 both came out of a 97 cherokee the external slave was all ready gone when i went to the jy , any how just wanting to know what would be the best fit as far as firewall mounting with the master , or if i can just adapt the external slave to work with the current master cylinder that was in the truck to begin with , i dug through almost all the swap threads but didn't see anything on master&slave cylinder changes (or at least i didn't see one ) . any thoughts would be great , thanks
87MJTIM
I purchased the master-slave-hose kit assembly that is sold by most online store. Brick-and-mortar stores sell similar brands. The later model AX15 assemblies have a larger master cylinder that may interfere with the brake booster. So, look for an early model: 94 - 96. You can search Rockauto.com http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=2770466&cc=1180213&jsn=487or Jeep4x4center.com. I first purchased a master, slave and hose from Novak Adapters for my CJ7 AX15 conversion. I HATED IT! I purchased one of the complete assemblies from Rockauto. My only regret is that I wasted money on the Novak. I would not recommend that purchase from Novak.
fiatslug87
What specifically did you hate about about the Novak?
87MJTIM
On the CJ, the pedal would not travel to the floor. The clutch would release and grab at the top of the pedal motion. The slave cyl came with an adapter rod to adjust the position/length push rod. I tried every combination with and without the rod. Nothing changed. I installed one of the master slave kits. Now the pedal travels to the floor. The grab and release is now in the center of the pedal motion. Maybe mine was bad :dunno: Maybe there was a screw loose behind the steering wheel. All I can say is: I was not pleased with it.
chris71
ok i was looking at a clutch master kit for a 94-96 xj crown part number #52104110 , i figured this might work since the master is the same as a 91-92 comanche , and the slave is external . Jackrabbit41
Get the pre bled kit from Napa or O'Reillys. 4 bolts and it's in
dscowell
You can pick up master cylinder and slave kits that are already pre-bled to make life easy. LUK is a good brand to look for.
