Total body swap

Recommended Posts

What would it take to swap out a total body from a 87 comanche to the one out of a 96 cherokee? The comanche has a intake tube that has to be screwed down by a rubble flanch and i need a cherroke one where a intate tube clips on with a hose clamp. I need to know if The mounting hole for the total body are same. And if the wiring for the throttle postion sensor and the idle air control valve are the same. I need to to know this information before i go the the junk yard and get one if you can answer my question that would be appreciated.

Somebody was posting from their phone.

You can swap them, but the bolt pattern is different and the TPS works differently.

You can either change to the newer intake, or build an adapter plate out of a piece of 1/2" thick aluminum. The Renix TPS can be adapted for very little money using the tang from the original throttle body, some standoffs, washers, or nuts for spacers, and some new screws. The IAC is the same part and bolts on.

If you use the new intake, you will need a new throttle cable, and you may have to mod up the bracketry to get the TV cable to work if you have an automatic. Like all swaps, YMMV.

You are mistaken, the Comanche and the Cherokee used the exact same motor/Intakes. What you are confusing is Renix Based EFI (87-90) and Chrysler HO EFI (91 up).

Swapping the intake is easy and will allow using the HO throttle body in a Renix environment (your 87 Comanche). You will have to adapt the TPS and use the HO throttle cable (and either bend the gas pedal or swap that as well).

This is a 94 throttle body I put on an 88 Comanche with the adapted TPS.

ha ya sorry guys, mad the original post in a hurry from my phone. the reason i want to run the other TB is because I'm planing to Supercharge MJ in a month or 2. that TB would just make the piping a little easier.  he current one ill have to make a flange to adapt the piping but its got a port for the IACV what will make a flange harder to make. just weighing my options.  ill be posting up a build post for all the work I'm doing
