scguy
I've got an 89 MJ 4.0 and a 92 XJ 4.0 Sport donor. I'm swapping in a 4.0 HO engine and I was planning on sticking with the Renix setup, but I'm swapping the blue interior to grey from the XJ and I'd like to add power windows and I prefer the fuse box from the 92. Since I'll have the dash out anyways, is there any reason why I shouldn't swap over to the HO XJ harness? I'll also be running the AW4 and transfer case from the same vehicle. Other than cutting down wiring for the rear, it seems like it wouldn't be hard. Anything I'm missing?
1stDeuce
If you do go from Renix to SBEC ('92 HO) you'll also need the HO crank sensor (it's different) and the distributor too. Since you have them on the engine already, that's good. The flexplate/flywheel from the '92 will also need to be used, as they crank trigger windows are different between the two. HO intake and throttle body also a must. IMO, all worth the work. I hate the Renix system, and putting in an HO engine and converting it back to Renix results in only a very small performance gain. Swap to the SBEC controller and you get the full HO improvement. :) I should add that I've not personally done this swap, just gathered info for a friend... I have converted to '97+ JTEC injection though. Performance similar to the SBEC system, but a little more wiring. You've got all you need, so I'd do the swap personally. :)
scguy
I should have everything. I'm using a 01 intake manifold.
HOrnbrod
I should have everything. I'm using a 01 intake manifold. Agree, dump the Renix and go with the HO system. And if you use the 01 manifold (recommended) you will need the 96 and up power steering pump and bracketry + a new belt. http://mallcrawlin.com/forum/showthread.php?6355-4-0L-99-intake-manifold-swap-with-REAL-DYNO-NUMBERS! scguy
Already got it. The previous owner did all that to the donor along with gold heat wrap on the bottom of the intake and fuel rail.
HOrnbrod
 Then what you have is no decision required - a no brainer.
