94 YJ block in 88 MJ motor mount

Recommended Posts

Swapping in a 4.0 from a 94 YJ into my 88 MJ. The YJ already had a Ax15 behind it and everything bolted up to my ax15. I replaced all the gaskets including rear main except for the transfer case outputs and head gasket. Replaced the dizzy, throttle body and other renix related sensors from the old engine. I am replacing much of the hardware with new stuff as I go and taking my time. Go to stab this thing in and find out that the YJ mounts seem to be different.

.

Hard to see but the drivers side mount hole way over where it should be. The passenger mount seems to be right where it should be and I already have the MJ oil filter adapter in.

I need to know if I can swap in a xj drivers side motor mount?

If I need both xj motor mounts?

If I need some special MJ motor mount?

Or because it is a YJ block(and the holes may be different) none of the above motor mounts will work leaving me throwing the YJ motor mount on the drill press.

The YJ block is the same as an XJ block. Let me know if you need the mounts back off the old motor, I could toss them in a couple flat rate boxes for you.

(Yes, I am on this site too, I'm all over the place lol)

I got some from a 99 XJ sport today. Passenger was exactly the same. Drivers was the difference. Hoping to fire this thing tomorrow.

Picture of difference for future reference. XJ on top.

Thank you for all the help.
