Sevik
Trying to make my Jeep look nicer, so I've got a question. I got XJ with a bent front bumper (metal piece) and now I struggle to find a replacement one on salvage yards. They got few pre-92 in a good shape but not for the newer ones. Are these metal pieces interchangeable? I don't mind extra holes or drill few and my side covers are in a good shape.
Minuit
Nope, I'm an idiot. Thought you were talking about the old style bumpers (84-96 all the same) - you know, MJs.

Eagle
Brand new 97' metal front bumper..$33.00 + shipping. RockAuto.com What I did on my previous MJ. Not the same as the bumper on an MJ. It has to be for an '84 - '96 XJ.
Rockfrog
The only real difference between the two is the way the end caps mount. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

And the fact that the early ones are chrome and the 97+ are painted. Other than the fact they're totally different, they're exactly the same. Rockfrog
And that my 88's is factory painted, and mount the same, and a slight difference in the contour. Sure, they are so different they can't possibly be made to work ... at all. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

1stDeuce
I got a black one from classic to current. I think it was $24. They had the end caps for cheap too

I've got a quote from them for floorboards where the shipping was twice the price of the panels themselves. Junk yards will do :)

But I'm sure if you wanted to put the time in it to hack up and/or mold them to fit then you could...But they're totally different body lines... Rockfrog
We were talking about the main bumper form, totally agree the end caps are completely different. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

Actually, the newer bumper itself mounts differently to the brackets, but if you get the brackets too, they'll bolt up to the frame at the same three holes. Just to be clear. :)

That's what I meant. "Bumper" to me means ready to bolt to frame. And that includes the correct end caps.
