weird design, ive never seen one like that. all that ive seen use the threaded bar rod end.

but I do like this concept as you don't have to remove the bar to adjust the position

In curious if they found a tie rod or drag link from another application to make the upper part of it? Then only the lower part with the bushing would be custom.

Thanks for all the help guys !! Bushing is on the way ... A friend gave it to me and I only have the cost of the bushing , I just need to swap the frame bracket with a newer Xj one . I really like this style too , as it doesn't need to be taken off to adjust it . Thanks again guys ..

Another plus for this bar is that you don't have to drill out the axle mount hole to install it. Hopefully the truck you are installing it on it on hasn't been drilled out or the hole isn't wallowed out.

I'm still in the process of locating a hp30 4:10 axle , but the 3:07 axle currently in the truck is in good shape . I'm debating on putting it on now or just waiting till I find an axle / regear and I have the WJ LCAs to install too .

These Teraflex bars are over $200 now new.   Way back when I got mine it was slightly less than $100 shipped. And I thought that was expensive. It must be nice to get one for free.  Bastid.........

  • 3 weeks later...

The track bar bracket p/n changed in 1991. Don't know what the difference is though. maybe you should check out a 90 and below bracket to see if they are the same.

I had zero problems installing the Teraflex bar on my 91. The hole taper and ID was fine.

That will happen with TREs from time to time.  Either keep tightening it, or clean the hole up with a taper reamer.  Just don't strip it...  I've also drilled a new hole on them in custom applications where I didn't want to ream the hole any deeper.

Nothing from Teraflex indicates that it shouldn't fit.

I think the length may have changed at some point but that's about it.

When I replaced the stock Tracbar on my MJ the new one pushed the axle over to the passenger side about 1/2". The Moog spec said it cover all years. The taper was the same.

Correct, the '86 has a smaller diameter hole than the later model. Most manufacturers don't know this. But that shouldn't be the problem unless the OP accidentally bought an '86 mount that was swapped on a '95. I can put the micrometer to the '86 mount I pulled off my truck if you'd like.

My guess is the taper on the track bar end is smashed so it's not seating in the mount correctly.
