SBpunk
Had a new windshield put in to try and fix it but there is a ton of water on my floor pans after it rained today. Was hoping to put in carpet but I need to hunt down this leak. Its coming from behind the dash on both sides. Any ideas what to look for next. The jeep is point nose down in the driveway if that helps at all.
reubj
My '89 suddenly was soaked on the passenger floor. I checked the windshield and everything was OK. I took the cowling cover off exposing the wiper mechanism. Way back under the fender a mouse had built a huge nest blocking the drain holes. Once I cleaned it out no more leaking. SBpunk
Sweet Ill check that out when it stops raining here. I have a cowl intake over there and I'm starting to worry I messed something up
87Chief
5 speed truck? Clutch master cylinders usually cause a leak on the driver's side. Some also say fuse box does too.. Just a heads up..
SBpunk
Thanks. Just moved into a new house so once everything is in place I'll start hunting down stuff.
Tj1
X2 on the cowl. Mine was letting water in from there.

Megadan
Door and side window seals are the culprit with my truck, that and my rear sliding window. easy enough to check, spray a hose at them lol
SBpunk
My doors are good. I can see the tiny streams coming down in a couple spots on the passenger side firewall and one on the driver side. It rained again today but no water on the floors. I might just take out the dash and see if I can hunt it down. Its about 1/3 as bad on the driver side so might be over flow. 87MJTIM
Mine was leaking. Water was getting under the carpeting and rusting the floor. The body shop found an open metal seam where the cowl top and fire wall panels connect. The factory spot welded the two together and used a seam-sealer. After 25+ years, the seam sealer deteriorated and was letting water in. My experience.
Dadinator
Get in and have someone hit it with a hose in various areas until you track it down.
Pete M
ANYPLACE is a suspect as they all have leaked for someone at some time. :( some examples from my own experiences: I had water dripping in past the windshield seal, running down the inside of the a-pillar to the floor. had the tiniest gap at the top of the drivers door that leaked if the rain came it at just the right angle. a bad seal at the back of the hood was letting water run in and it followed a wire in past the firewall. the hose is a great idea, as well as sprinkling baby powder around in the suspect areas (the water will make tracks through it and lead you back to the source)

I really thought it was a windshield seal but def not the case now. I think the drain might be blocked since it only does it on heavy rain. Going to take the hose out and pour some water in it hahah
