Update, 4.0 is running great and is probabily one of the best things I've done to the Jeep!

Can we say "duh" at this point?

Lol, in all honesty the whole trip has been awesome to watch.

Nothing new really, I've installed the keyless entry sensor from the donor 4.0 XJ and love it, it's pretty awesome having power windows as well! I also got the A/C system sealed up and working. Sometime in June I will be taking it to have body work done on it and paint!

Building up the Dana 30 from the donor XJ, I was either going to build or buy an overall truss, reinforce the C's, 3 link control arms, and 1 ton steering. I don't do any crazy offloading and will never go over 35" tires so I think this axle will suffice! 1ae472205ba151fb7f93999c75ebf2ab.jpg1f84fdc926d90f3a611544133776330d.jpg

In the mean time, I've ordered Rough Country's long arm kit and it has proven a pain in the butt to install on a 86 2.8 converted to 4.0! There has been tons of cutting! You can see in the picture that the body brace will have to be cut off to hold the side bracket. I'm thinking I'll weld two 1/4 inch angle iron braces to re support it once it has been cut out! Any other ideas from you guys? a03e2212f9b7bec51cad03db5cf86760.jpga867f2e5b3e0eedbd0bcc8fddbd05e66.jpg

I ended up cutting the bracket to accommodate for the body brace. Everything else fit pretty well! FYI for anyone looking to run the Rough Country kit, don't use their self tapping bolts. They say to torque them to 30 ft/lb but they strip out at about 20! I just drilled a hole and fished some through bolts in their place!904d7bf9a7447909df8781a00f5b322a.jpg1977e143d65c8696e2120753d008e0a0.jpg
