Buckets are in!

Recommended Posts

At the you pull it yard I found a cherokee doner for buckets, same track width, so I bought them. When I got home I took off (with gentle persuasion....yeah right!) my bench seat floor brackets and mounted them onto the buckets. Done, on of the easiest conversion projects I have done besides replacing my window handle. I will post pics soon.

Congrats woody!!!

I have mine on the garage floor waitin for better weather to get them in!!

I was lucky enough to have found a set of 2DR XJ sport seats, the ones with the tilt as well as forward and backward adjustments.

They are also very clean, W/no appreciable wear!!

Actually, this week end was grand, but had to finish parting a XJ that was in the drive way BEFORE I started another project!!!

One of the BEST parts is they are already mounted to MJ brackets!!!

That XJ I just finished parting out had a very nice center console, so that will be going in as well!!!

I anxiously, await your pics!!

Hey man,

Did you ever finish and take some pics??

I HOPE to do mine this weekend!!!

I got the seats all cleaned and the bases re-painted black. I have been spraying the nuts, on the mounts, in the cab all week. I also have the center console all cleaned and waiting for the install.

If time permits, I'll put in my new gauges and sending units as well as the clock and switches i harvested out of my parts 1990 XJ lariot!!

Woddy,

That looks SUPER!!

Was there any problems with the mounting bolts? My front ones are very rusty....I'm a bit worried about twisting them off.

That head liner looks great as well!!! How did you do it? What did you re-cover it with?

My passenger side mounting bolts were very rusted. After gental persuasion, wd-40, visegrips, a chisle, BFH (big f*@king hammer), two skinned knuckles, and 50 new curse words they came out with no problem :D I replaced both front mounting bolts with new (to me at least) ones I got from the junkyard with the seats.

That head liner looks great as well!!! How did you do it? What did you re-cover it with?

I went to Joann Fabrics, they usally carry the headliner material and purchased enough to recover my headliner (I got a yard and a half for the headliner) and my sunvisor (another half yard). I removed all trim, and when I say all trim I mean ALL trim, I replaced my carpet padding when I was doing my headliner. Carefully took off the old headliner being sure not to crack it, then cleaned it up. For the spray I used locktight heavy duty permant spray adheasive (has yet to fail me) and following the adheasive directions, put on the new headliner. My only real tip for redoing headliners is to NEVER press down hard on the material when you are smoothing it out, if you press too hard you can force the glue to the surface and the material is ruined. Headliners are easy you just need to take your time and plan the way you are going to do it so you have a clear picture on the steps you are going to take.

Did you get your buckets in yet?

OUT with the OLD.....

IN with the NEW!!!

I had been soalking the nuts for more than a week, everything came right out!!! That new Liquid Wrench FOAMING works VERY well!!

I didn't get to the gauges... maybe today before the game. I did get my front skid plate and new chrome front end on!! I'm generally not a fan of chrome, but put some diamond plate on the bed and with this out front I think it looks better.

sweet, looks great! Are you going to put in a center console? I have seen some writeups on using a TJ console, but I think I am going to go with a ford suv or maybe even a chevy blazer type console. just trying to find a decent one. Anyone have sugestions?

By the way did you use your bench brackets?

The link seems to be dead. I found the original link on jeepsonly.com by accident. It looked pretty straight foward with minimal cutting. Looking at my options, I think I may build my own using MDF and carpeting the sides, then use upolstry foam and vinal for the top. I haven't made up my mind yet for the cup holders. Has anyone else done this? Let's see some of what others have done foe an add on center console! I think this may help a few of us out here.

There is three sending units but you only need to cahnge TWO!

DO NOT CHANGE THIS ONE!!

Change these two;

This is the OIL sender, its just behind and below the distributor:

And this coolant temp, it at the back or the block on the drivers side just behind the last injector:

I bought brandy new ones as I sold the others with the engine. Cost about 50$. I also went so far as to change out all the bulbs in the dash while I was in there.

GOOD LUCK!!

I bought these bucket with MJ bracket attached!!! NICE SCORE, I thought!!

I will keep the brackets and ditch the bench, if a friend dosent want it.

I will be using the XJ console from that 90 XJ I stripped.
