onlyinajeep726
What automatic did they use in '88 for the 2.5L?

chrissin712
Hmm Been looking for a clean truck but wanted a 4.0/5 spd. How are these 4 banger autos? This is clean, local, and a great color/condition for swapping a 97+ swap. (Already have a black 2000 Classic for parts)
Automan2164
4 banger auto is just that. Moves like a 4 banger, with an auto. I imagine it's perfecr for just cruising around. Just as bulletproof as the 4.0L. Rob
neohic
You need that one too.
rmoore1031
Is it an AW4 or A904? Thought it would be A904 since its on the column. Either way, it looks great.
Automan2164
AW4. A904 was '86 only IIRC. Rob

GirsMJ86
AW4. A904 was '86 only IIRC. Rob Rob is correct, the A904 was dropped after '86 along with the 2.8L. Took out two birds with one stone the following year.
rmoore1031
Sorry for getting off topic, but how can you tell the difference between A904 and AW4 column shift? I have seen multiple column shifts and thought that meant A904. Ofcourse, driving and listening for shifting would be easy. But I mean how do you tell on a non running MJ? Automan2164
Easy, if it's not an '86, it doesn't have an A904. Rob
