BIGMASS
First post here. Been reading for awhile though durring the reassembly of my Baby Tank!! Where to start... Bought it about 4 years ago. It was total junk, but it had a 4" lift already and a strong motor and recent trans (pukegoat) and x-fer case (231). Since then it has gotten: Southern box and tailgate Both floors (full) inner and outer rockers on both sides pannel both doors both cab extentions new front fenders new bumper hand made roll pan custom 2 1/2" dual exhaust with high flow cat and muff Basically there isn't much on this truck that isnt new or modified, and what is not will be!! New hand made floors Image Not Found Image Not Found Put the 'ol Manche emblem above the body line to match 4X4 emblem Image Not Found Hand made 3" over end links (swaybar ends were rubbing on springs) Image Not Found Pretty stock interior, but body colour bezel, and 3D head liner in the works Image Not Found Rear shot of hand made rollie. Exhaust was not done in this pic. There are now two 3" chrome tips just under the pan. Image Not Found A few more for your viewing pleasure Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found In the future I will be swaping rear ends and possibly AX15/242 combo, and maybe some nicer rims (I have no rubs now and I wanna keep it that way). With 32's an 3.07's the gears will be comming soon. I have my eye on an auto cherokee with the 242. As I understand it will have 3.55 and should be livable with 32's. I hope I can contibute here and help others as much as you all have helped me in the past. Feel free to comment. :wrench:
Pete M
Yeah, if you can track down a 242, the XJ surrounding it will likely have 3.55 gears. 4.10s would be better, but anything is better than the crappy 3.07s. :D
Twisty
i like the look of the rear with the roll pan.
comancheap
Me too, is that one built for a different model that you adapted or handbuilt? And I dig the wheels too, really cool old school, like what's on the General Lee!
BIGMASS
4.10s would be better I know it's somewhat of a crime, but I don't plan on offroading. I got too much invested in tha body. That's why I was thinking of 3.55's. I can't even use 5th gear right now with 3.07's i like the look of the rear with the roll pan. Thanks man. The last wing wangs that had the truck liked to just put a tow hook on any lip they could find, so the bumper was rolled up into the box and the tail gate wouldn't even open. They even put the hook on the side lip of the rear spring shackle (both sides) and damn near folded it right in half  A twisted bumper made the rollie an easy sell. Plus I only got about 20 bux tied up in it
BIGMASS
is that one built for a different model that you adapted or handbuilt? Ya, I built it from scratch. Easier than you might think!
JohnQ
Plus I only got about 20 bux tied up in it I'll give you $50 plus the cost if you make me one. :D

It's the on-the-pavement driving where I need to have enough gear to easily get the truck going and keep the engine in the right RPM range. 88MJay
Nice SMP sticker in the back window. I still have a SMP jersey from about ten years ago. Nice clean truck by the way.
BIGMASS
I'll give you $50 plus the cost if you make me one. Sorry man. I got way too many projects on the go right now. Here's one. If you got a mig welder I can walk you thru it well enough to make your own. And I see what you're saying now Pete. Never owned a 4.0l before so I don't really know what effect different stock gears have on these things. I will keep my eye out for a 4 banger truck though. Did cherokee's ever come with the 4cyl? Because I would still like to find one parts truck for all or most of my requrements (gears, non-cad front end, NP242) 89MJay, I don't even really know what SMP stands for (maybe I'm retarded) but it's gone now. Gonna have "BABY TANK" stickers made up for rear glass and maybe the door bezels where the power switches normally go. Thanks for the love guys, I apreciate it. Pete M
And you should get a ComancheClub sticker for the windshield too. :D If you're looking for a single parts car, the 3.55s are inevitable. You won't find a 242 with a 3.07 and I doubt they ever came with the 2.5L (can't say for sure though). The 2.5L was available in the Cherokee though, so 4.10/non-CAD axles are out there. Another option for the rear is the Explorer 8.8 with 3.55s or 4.10s, maybe posi, and 95+ had disk brakes. A search should pull up plenty of info on that swap. BIGMASS
I did the body little by little over 4 years. It is a GM colour
SuicidalPenguin
Nice truck, good work. Really digging that color. Ever since I saw the blue Colorado's i've wanted it as the color of my MJ. That or the burnt orange.
MJchick
The 2.5 TJ's have 4:10 gears in them, most of the diffs are Dana 35's
1bolt
Bigmass, did you smooth that dash bezel or is it stock? Never seen them with rounded edges like that.
BIGMASS
It's a wood grain bezel. They are all smoth like that. I got it so it would be easier to sand and mask for paint.

Now I know how to fix that thanks
BIGMASS
Been awhile since I've posted up. Just been driving it since it has given me absolutely zero problems. Got my parts truck with 3.55's, 242 and full power. will hopefully swap before the snow flies but no promises as I have to go to trade school soon. On one of my trips to the yard I picked up a spare tb and the butterfly from a H.O. I finally found some time to use the mill at work and punched that mofo out to 60mm. The gasket comes in tomorrow, but I have to wait for some 409 SS mandrel bends off e-ghey to make a new intake for the cone filter. I might put it on with the factory intake to see how it works if I can find the time. it looks a little thin in these two spots but there is enough.
