You still running the mt leaves and variable rate coils or have you add a lift on top of that?

Front has ZJ V8 variable rate springs with 2" pucks. The rear has hell creek MT springs. The last I measured it was about 1.5-2.5 inches above stock 4x4 height. I'm also on 31 inch tires so that alone raises the jeep by an inch.

But the grille guard/winch setup on the front made the puck a requirement to keep a slight front down rake. At least till I get new front springs.

what shocks are you running? I'm planning on running the same spring set up with some heavier off road, greaseable shackles, they arent lift shackles but that claim to give .5"-1"

I had the stock shocks, and after hearing them max out for the past couple years I finally decided to replace them with the Monroe sensa-track with the helper spring. Well those ended up only being a maybe an inch longer and are still maxing out... I didn't even need to use a jack to swap them out... That should have been my first sign of trouble. So I'm going to sell them or return them if I still can and buy a longer set. Won't be with the helper spring cause that was already there longest set they sell for our shock setup. I need to take them off then measure the max drop and compression. But I'm being lazy about it. And will get to it "later".

got any pictures of how you wired it all up?

I Just have a picture of the back side of the connector.  My grandfather had it wired for a trailer harness before i had the truck.  I think its just spliced into the tail light harness.  I'm planning to add a good power source to the trailer and trailer lights and have them activated via relays.  7 pin connectors have a pin dedicated to aux power, for charging trailer batteries or so on.

50" Curved Light Bar Install

Work in progress

I finally broke down and bought a curved led light bar and some pod lights.  They where sub $200... well the first set was $88 ish for the bar and two pods..  The first bar had a section of lights that did not work so its boxed up and waiting to be replaced.  My second light bar was a bit more expensive but has 672W output vs 288W.  it also claims to use a better reflector and lens design.  The replacement Light bar did not include any pods, but because i was going to put them on the boat anyway that does not really matter.  ill include the pods i purchased for the boat as well.

50" 288W Curved Light bar from amazon (Seller Yitamotor) $88.99 + Free Shipping (returning due to defective Bar) [update: seller sending new light bar]

50" 672W Curved Light Bar from eBay (Seller AutoPartM) $138.59 + Free Shipping

20 4" LED Pods from eBay (Seller AutoPartM) $159.99 + Free Shipping

50" Curved Light Bar XJ Windshield Bracket from Amazon $15.99 + Free Shipping

Below you can see the defective unit

Update 10/18/16:

New light bar arrived yesterday and i was able to hook it up for testing.  Below are some Side by side comparisons.

Lets start with the flood section, the new 5D lens looks cool and the new bar also has more flood lenses.

30364954986_992ce82e21_o.jpgOld vs New by Blue88Comanche, on Flickr

again the new bar uses 5d lenses vs a focus cup.

30401126715_2bbfff8398_o.jpgOld vs New by Blue88Comanche, on Flickr

If the video works, here is a full length comparison of the two

so with my younger brother as the mounting bracket / test bed, we hooked up the light bar to the provided wire harness.  the harness was equipped with a 30 amp fuse.  now this bar should be drawing 56 amps, but apparently it wasn't.  dispite that the light output was awesome. the spot section did a great job and the flood filled the gaps and area nicely.

30364962676_62bb9277f8_o.jpgNew Bar light test by Blue88Comanche, on Flickr

a quick comparison to the two light bars performance.  the new 5D bar provided a better spot light for long range vision, but i feel as the old bar with the focus cups provided a much better flood light. so keep that in mind for your indented use of the bar.  for example the old bar i think would be better for lighting up a camp sight for a night setup.  we always setup camp in the dark....

How To Plug a Tire

For a few months now my tire has been slowly leaking and i thought it was just a leak on the valve stem.  well a couple days ago the tire was completely flat and i heard a slight hissing noise when inflating the tire.  Apparently i had been carrying around a nail for a while.

You will need a tire plug kit, jack, wheel chocks, tire iron.  Unfortunately for me my bottle jack i would normally use was in the back of my car that my sister is borrowing till hers is repaired.

Secure the vehicle by applying the parking brakes and wheel chocks.  use the jack to lift the axle, then remove the tire.

Locate and remove any offending objects, in my case it was a nail

After removing the object, use the "Cleaning tool" it looks like a cylindrical file.  To clean out, enlarge the puncture.

29697117643_b9a149fa50_o.jpgCleaning the Hole by Blue88Comanche, on Flickr

next prep your tire plug. here you can see the removed nail.

insert the plug a good ways in, be sure not to completely insert the plug.

remove the insertion tool.  you can then clean up the plug with a razor blade.

Congrats! you plugged a hole in a tire, now inflate and mount the tire, lower the Jeep and you are good to go!

How many miles do you have on those Grabbers? They look like they're wearing a little bit better than the ones on my MJ. How much gravel do yours see? Just curious, really.

Funny story that's almost relevant, one of the Grabbers on my Niva picked up a nail too. Like, back in July I noticed it. I wasn't driving it due to no brakes (among other things), so I just marked it on the tire and left it. After a couple weeks I noticed it wasn't loosing much air, so I pulled the nail out to see if it actually went through. Massive rush of air. Shoved the nail back in. Somehow it still has 25 psi in it three months later...

I bought my Grabbers back in November of 2011. i currently have maybe 17-20k miles on the tires.  aside from the tire with the nail i havent had to add much air over the years.  they do need to be rotated.  the front tires' tread is more worn than the rear but not by much.

the only gravel i drive on in in my and my parents driveways.  and occasionally a dirt road.  i havent had much time for off road fun in a while

Mine might have a bit more on them then that, and they're a year newer, but I'm guessing my extra wear is going to have a lot to do with the amount of gravel I see. Probably 10-20% of the miles. Cool. Most noticeably the edges of my tread blocks aren't quite as square as yours, but it looks like there's a little bit less tread depth too.

Mine haven't lost air either, even when they were sitting for 16 months. Apart from the nail incident as well. Definitely impressed with the tires for what I paid for them.

Couple new goodies, RENIX Engine Monitor 2 and a new battery

Optima Blue Top Dual Purpose Marine Deep Cycle Battery

Wanted to share Nickintimefilms latest creation. It’s the REM 2 clock panel. The fit and finish is perfect, couldn’t get much better than it is now.

It has a ton of features that carry over from the previous versions. It can also read the TCU and show data such as current gear, speed, and MPG. But seeing as I currently only have a manual tranny I don’t get those features. But if you are interested in Gallons Per Hour you are covered. Currently I’m using engine coolant temp, RPM, GPH, and voltage. The clock is awesome as well.

Cre8tive beat me to it. But also if you have a facebook account, be sure to follow his page “nickintimefilms”. You can message him to set up a pre-order.. currently he sells out in the preorder stage, and does not usually have many for a public sale.

I finally got around to picking up the “new” transmission from Jimmy. I still have a few things I need to get from him later but this is a start. Now I can begin my AX-15 to AW-4 swap

All right time for another update now that Tapatalk is working again!

I completely removed the dash and will be replacing the in dash harness.

21914e694b57d3693e1f821f0599418a.jpg

The heater core has been replaced and the ac evaporator core has been cleaned. After I figure out what I’m going to do with the radio I’ll be reinstalling everything soon.

The new shifter cable for the aw4 has also been routed in the cab. It apparently is run through the fire wall to he right of where he master clutch cylinder is located.

483594fe8e028881b92956aa63e36599.jpg

Between the clutch and aw4 shifter cable: the bottom is the hood release cable and the top in used hole I believe is for the cruise control harness.

Still to come:
Replace the exhaust manifold
Replace the engine harness
Swap the AX15 for the AW4
Swap input gears between the NP231 and NP242 so I can keep the NP242.
Rout transmission radiator lines

And probably a few other things I can’t remember right off.
