Philistine
Is the rear main seal on a 2.5l a two piece? I got the lower gasket kit from the local dealership and the RMS in the kit is a single piece.
aemsee
It is one piece
Philistine
Crap. Looks like I'll have to pull back the transmission then to replace it. I was hoping it was a two piece like the 4.0.
Pete M
no such luck. :( but on the plus side, there far less chance of injuring the seal upon installation and then having to do it twice. :D
Cheech
I just did the RMS on my 2.5, super easy once the engine is out/tranny pulled. Just pry out the old one being carfull not to score the crank, and tap in the new one using a socket/piece of pipe/punch. You shouldn't hurt the seal because it taps in real easy. My HOA would probably send me a nasty letter if I were to pull the engine in the street. Not that I could anyways.
