STERLING STINGER
this may sound strange but i lost my power in my radio, turn signals, cig lighter, dash lights all at the same time. i checked all the interior fuses and checked the 4 relays (on the left, one is for the coil), everythings fine, no clue. work truck...88 4.0 thanks in advance! ParadiseMJ
I have the exact same (maybe not exact) problem. My gauges all work, sometimes. When they don't work, my dash lights work. My dome lights never work. My radio did work, never tried my cig lighter. Clock works, blower, heater, all work. I've changed the headlight switch, replaced ALL the fuses. I have not replaced the ign. switch. I'm watching this thread and I'll chime in if and when I got anything.

When you say everything is "fine", what do you mean? You traced power from the battery to the fuses and through the fuses? You pulled the fuses and they are not blown? When you pull the head light switch to turn on the lights (without key in ignition) do the dash lights come one? Do the headlights, marker (parking) lights come on? When you put the key in and turn to the on position, do the idiot lights, check engine light, e-brake light, whatever you have come on? Does the truck start when you turn the key to start? Have you checked the various ground wires for good solid connection? Did this happen while you were driving? Scott
STERLING STINGER
Just replaced ignition tumbler and everything works again. but here's your answers You traced power from the battery to the fuses and through the fuses? no i did not You pulled the fuses and they are not blown? yes i did When you pull the head light switch to turn on the lights (without key in ignition) do the dash lights come one? Do the headlights, marker (parking) lights come on? no, nothing comes on When you put the key in and turn to the on position, do the idiot lights, check engine light, e-brake light, whatever you have come on? no, none of that comes on Does the truck start when you turn the key to start? yes it does Have you checked the various ground wires for good solid connection? i checked the ones i know, drivers tail light, engine, passengers side headlight....thats it Did this happen while you were driving? i think it happened once yesterday while driving, but just for a second, then it stopped thanks, Paul

I'm not real clear how the ignition tumbler could keep the headlights, marker lights and dash board lights from working when you don't have the key in. Maybe it's my lack of understanding the internal workings in the column? At any rate, glad your running again. Scott
AmJay
I'm kinda scratching my head on the ignition cylinder too. I suspect the ignition switch connector was loose or corroded and disconnecting it and reconnecting it burnished the contacts enough to get everything working. Mac...
