airspeed
Is there adjustment on the ignition timing on a 2.5 TBI? The casting of the ditributor has a saddle the locates to the clamping screw. That tells me if it is not inserted to the perfect position the timing will be off? I can see 0 to 20 degrees marked on the timing cover. You could be off one tooth when you insert the distributor, then where is your timing going to be? The manual tells you to be sure the oil pump is in the 3:00 o'clock position before inserting the distributor, does that set the timing?
jimoshel
You're correct on all counts. There is no manual timing adjustments. Follow the book and you will be OK.
bigd44889
:agree: your timing will be i think 10 degres advanced when running the cps tells it when to fire so if cap and rotor are in the right place it will run if not it won't

Slop in the dizzy and/or a worn dizzy gear among other causes can be detected quickly, and the timing light is still a valuable troubleshooting tool.
