creekscout
I have a '86 mj 2wd with a 2.8 v6 and torqueflite automatic, I am trying to find out if the 904 automatic from a '84 postal jeep with a 2.5 4cyl. will be a direct fit for my mj. Any info will be appreciated.
Geonovast
AFAIK, you shouldn't have any problems.
dasbulliwagen
If you have both out, set them side by side and make sure all the stuff is the same, like the driveshaft flange and tailshaft housing... might be of a different length, you may also have to keep the torque converter from the 2.8 as the 2.5 one may be different. And I'm not sure what year the AMC 2.5 came out because the mail Jeep may have had the GM 2.5 which is a different engine and I don't know if the bellhousing is the same or not. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
