MJ300
I'm currently wiring up my fog lights and came across this in the place where the power/comfort switch would be on an XJ and was wondering what it was. Black and orange w/ blk stripe wires, 92 MJ. On a side note, I added the light that makes that bluish ring on the cig lighter glow but it didn't come on...the cig lighter works fine but light doesn't.....any ideas??? Bad bulb maybe? JeepcoMJ
looks like the plug that plugs into the cig light (not the lighter itself, the actual light)
87Warrior
I would agree. Orange is the (+) lead for the dash lighting, black is the ground. Have something you want to light up when you kick the headlamps on, wire it to that plug. Of course, test with a multimeter first.
MJ300
I 99% sure its not the one for the cig lighter because I found that wire (its the other orange wire in the right side of the pics), but dash lighting sounds like a plausible answer though....now what in the world would I wanna light up? :hmm:
deziped
Maybe the clock if you have one.
ParadiseMJ
I thought my XJ didn't have any dash lighting (other than the instrument panel) but the little icons on the black dash panel do all have lighting behind them. That's what that plug looks like. If the little icon for the lighter doesn't light (other than the blue ring) that's a light socket. I think it's a 194 bulb, and there should be a hole for it to go in to.
maddzz1
I'm also gonna go with the clock plug. Mine was stuffed over behind the power/comfort switch. I think it was 94 when they did away with the clock plug and put the clock into the radio
