Geonovast
AW-4 is a pretty tough cookie. It was also the only auto used behind the 4.0 in the XJ/MJ. I'm not sure what auto/autos were used behind the 4.0 in the ZJ/WJ/TJ, but those ones seem to die a lot. Most ZJs I see for sale have transmission problems. And particular reason you're looking for a stronger one?
akamcbird
nothing "better" for a bolt on, without buying adapter plates. but youll find few that feel the need for stronger than the aw4, its not bullet proof but its a pretty stout tranny. use wiki to look through the options, all from dodge...yj's tf999 zj's 42re,44re and others tj's 42rle and wj's also used 42re
