Used to just be that I drove 5 speeds. In this day and age, it would probably twart 90% of people looking to steal for a joyride.

The AM/FM radio and tape decks worked too.

But now, I live in the middle of freakin nowhere. If someone stole one of my MJs, it'd be one of the two neighbors.

Or Lenard, cause he's been here.

Video cameras are nice if you can afford a system. Best option I think is a silent / personal alarm. Last house I lived in, the local neighborhood rats broke my driver side window in an attempt to steal my stereo. That was the first night in our new house. :fs1: Wish I had a silent alarm back then. The rats wouldn't have heard anything except for the sound of 3" 12ga 00 buckshot chambering into my 870.

I have a door switch hooked up to complete the circuit on my air horn....with just a plain switch set up on it to cut out that part of the circuit.

so pretty much, if someone opens the door and doesn't know where the switch is (good luck), and they break a window then open the door, they're SOL

Pat, Great minds, you know... :brows: I just hook it to the ahooga horn. MAN that thing makes an obnoxious racket!!!  I have the same thing!! I also have a battery kill switch. I have put these on my winches in both Jeeps and they work very well. I now have them wired into the battery cables. No key... no do nothin'!! I also have a neat electrical disconnect system on the TJ as I figure its more of a target than the MY. I never have to tell anyone how it works course I can turn it on or off with a hidden switch. Like if it goes to the shop or someone else is driving it.

The other thing I do is NEVER leave anything I cannot loose in there and NEVER LOCK THEM!! All the local neighbors know who and what I am, many of the neighborhood hoodlum types will not even walk in front of my house. If they walk down the street and see me in the yard working on the jeeps. They turn and walk the other way. Like jmnjim, guess they think I'm a bit crazy, that and I have that big freakin' dog!!! He has a great eye for the troubled, he lays in the yard and growls, lo and loud till they move on to cross the street. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: He is a GOOD BOY!!! :D

mnkyboy - The camera works great at the home, but what about everywhere else?

dunl - Great Idea - where would be a great place to locate this KILL switch? I know you though about it before you installed yours, where were you thinking at that time? PS I am not asking you where you installed yours - but just for your ideas.

jpnjim - Another gret idea - What can you tell me about this "FUEL PUMP wire harness"? Where would be a great place to install the switch, again I'am not asking where you installed yours, but just the ideas you had at that time, when you were thinking switch location through

mnkyboy - Could you please tell me more about these switches.

jeepcomj - I like your door switch and horn idea. How did you wire it in?, and what was going through your mind when you were deciding where to locate this switches. Again I am not asking where you installed yours, but just the location you had in mind.

wallisek - Great idea - what can you tell me about silent alarms? What is there useful range, Which one did you use? I like the shotgun idea, as long as the alarm will wake you up, and you can move faster than the THUGS.

CW - you always come up with great ideas, and good minds think alike. I just installed an ahooga horn for effects. The battery kill switch idea is great, but I live in South Florida and these smart THUGS that want you MJ will watch you, to see where you are killing the power. I don't want to create a "HOW to DO IT" scene for them. I rather do something that looks normal from the outside world to see. Thanks for ALL your great ideas. :hmm:

I like the bank of toggle switches idea. Put in four or five of them and wire them in series so that the switches have to be set to OFF or ON in a specific pattern or it's an open circuit. For this to work, they have to be double-throw switches, so that they can make a circuit whether the lever is up or down.

Assuming your MJ is like most and has a blank switch panel to the right of the steering wheel, you could put in an XJ panel there and put two switches in that. Unless they are both ON, no run. Mount one of them upside down to make it more confusing. Plus they'll have factory labels for stuff so they won't look like a security system.

I never lock a vehicle. It's bad enough replacing what was stolen without having to replace a broken window too. Never leave anything in it. Have a heavy metal box in trunk, bed or behind seat with good lock. Micro switch behind the ashtray.Ashtray out, no start. I also have a firm rule if they do get it going. The county road is a mile from the house. When , if, they reach it, I quit shooting. On one occasion I was having trouble with punks I left a couple rattlesnakes in the cab. No more trouble there.

A note on starter disabling devices. If the starter doesn't turn the first thing they look for is a switch. If the starter does turn but it doesn't start they're more likely to think somethings wrong or they then have to decide whether it's worth the trouble to look for disabling devices.

Cut into small sections boil them then coat with egg wash and whatever breading you like. I like plain flour and yes taste just like chicken but better. Infact this reminds me the last one we got was around august in the MJ coming back thru the mountain roads with a motor motor in the bed for it.

Low = Jack !!!! Buy it, install it , live happy , period ........

Dave M.

Lo-Jack doesn't stop a theft, it just transmits the vehicle's location so that MAYBE the police can find it after it has been stolen. Problem is, a 20-year old MJ isn't likely going t be stolen by a chop shop that's going to send the parts to South America, it's going to be stolen by some punk who wants to go joy riding in a Jeep. The cops will find it ... most likely in a ditch or wrapped around a tree.

I would prefer to make it so they can't steal it in the first place.
