Lenard
went to the JY and got a TCU out of a 92 XJ, and installed it on my 88 hoping it would fix my problem. does it matter that it was out of a HO? because now i have NO OD and when i put it in D and go it will be in 3rd gear by the time i hit 25mph with it floored, and it will not downshift no matter what, if i manually shift it no problem. deziped
Probally as they have different ECU which they have to work in conjunction with.

Geonovast
Unfortunately it does. You will need a 87-90 4.0 TCU.
Geonovast
Or bypass the TCU completely.
