JeepinSoldier
HELP!! I have a set of excellent condition 4 door Cherokee bucket seats that I want to swap into a 90 bench seat Comanche. Originally when I read thru the threads here it seemed that all that was necessary was to remove the Cherokee brackets from the sliders, remove the Comanche brackets from the bench and bolt the sliders to the brackets. Apparently the later model Cherokee seats are harder to install. Can anybody explain how to do this? Is there an earlier Cherokee or Comanche seat bracket that will bolt to the later model seats? The truck is at Mountian Valley Customs in PA and they say that no matter how they mock up the seats to the brackets, they are too far over and onto the transmission tunnel. MPFDM, PM sent. DJM/78
I think you have to use the newer brackets from the xj. I used the 95 brakets but they still don't exactly fit. You'll still have to do some type of modification. do you have pics??? There are a couple of threads that guys have done around here. Dave M. Darren
I have 95+ seats in my MJ. I basicly just cut out the stock mounts, and used the entire Cherokee assembly and welded tabs on the floor for the seat to bolt to. Check out my build thread, its somewhere in there. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9854 Also if you search, there have been quite a few threads on the topic. HOrnbrod
1994 was the changeover year for the XJ/MJ seats; no more bolt-in. As posted above, it's a fabrication job.
JeepinSoldier
Gotta PM from MPFDM and the info here helped as well. Thanks! Ill be able to let MVC know that either the brackets need to be modified or the the floor braces from the 95 need to be welded in. I love this bar.
