ComancheKid45
Renix is the name of the computer system used in our Trucks as well as many jeeps from 1987-1990. Your truck is run off a Renix type system. MPI and TBI stand for the way the fuel is injected in the engine. (Multi Port Injection/Throttle body Injected) The 4.0 uses MPI and sinces its an inline engine there is only 1 fuel rail to supply the injectors  Youll easly find any info you need about your truck around here, grab a beer (or Mountain Dew) from the fridge and enjoy your stay
Eagle
what is a Renix? Already asked (by you) and answered in another of your threads: I am a little behind, could someone explain Renix to me. How can I tell which system is in my 1989 MJ 4.0 MPI I-6? :dunno: American Motors owned Jeep when the XJ (and MJ) was designed. Renault was a major partner of AMC. The design of the ignition and injection system was a joint venture of Renault and Bendix of Europe. RENault + bendIX = RENIX. The Renix system was used on the 4.0L engine from 1987 through 1990, and on the 4-cylinder engine from 1986 through 1990. What is my truck, which is a 1989 MJ longbed 4X4 with a 4.0 MPI I-6. I only have one fuel line going to the fuel rail. What kind of ECU would I have? You have a Renix What is the differene between and MPI, and a TBI? MPI, or MPFI, is "multi-port" fuel injection. TBI is "throttle body" fuel injection. Which one performs better? MPFI

Automan2164
To further expand on the MPI/TBI: Multi Port Fuel injection uses ONE INJECTOR per CYLINDER. IE, a 6 cyl, will have 6 injectors on a MPFI car. Throttle Body injection is just that. One injector, located in the throttle body. Oizarod115
and you SHOULD have 2 fuel lines, i suspect you're overlooking the other one.v
RLCollins
Your right Oizarod115. What I met by one fuel line, is there is one up front instead of two, and there is one is the back. :chillin:
