mythreesons
Checking the TPS on a 88 MJ 4.0 Auto for random tranny issues. As far as I can tell, the TPS has been on the throttle body for a long time if not original (200K miles). When back probed, the voltage readings go from 4.76V at closed throttle to 0.83V at wide open. Tranny shop using their Snap-On computer with their hook-ups, ground lead hooked to the engine. Everything that I have read here says that the readings they got are exactly backwards. Things that make you go :huh???: A new TPS should get here today, but it seems a little odd (ok, to me it seems a lot odd) how it could be backwards. Anybody ever seen this before? If so, what was the problem? Thanks, Scott

mythreesons
I agree. Used the 88 AW-4 FSM whatever diag for verification as well as the sensor diag listing on http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Eng ... ostics.htm That is why it seems odd to me. Backwards??? Only thing I can think of to cause this would be heavy-handed operation of the throttle might "spin" the part so that it ends up being backward in operation. Hence why I asked if anyone had seen this before. Kinda puzzling, Scott
