knever3
I have been looking high and low for shackle bolts. I am replacing my rear leafs so I want to buy new ones. They are 1/2 x 4 and 1/2 inches flange bolts. TSC sells 4 and 5 inch bolts but there are only 1 inch of threads on the ends. Are they dealer only??? It's Saturday and all the bolt stores are closed. Thanks!!
CWLONGSHOT
You can get them form the dealer, OR just go to a better hardware store and get grade bolts like many of us have done. CW
Pete M
or get them from the junkyard. the lower control arms of XJs and MJs use the same bolts.
Blue XJ
I've bought all mine from ACE hardware. Just a standard grade 8 1/2" bolt and nut.
Eagle
Guys, if they are the same as the LCA bolts, they are not 1/2" bolts. The LCA (and UCA) bolts are metric, which is why so many of the control arm kits that come with SAE bolts rattle.

CWLONGSHOT
9/16" bolts work just fine.... :shake: :shake: Image Not Found Image Not Found I didn't bother to mention proper sizing.... I kinda figured the OP would know enough to buy a bolt that fit the hole properly... :shake:   CW

I kinda figured the OP would know enough to buy a bolt that fit the hole properly... His first post in this thread says they are 1/2" Yes, 9/16" can work. They are a little tight and may need to be lightly sanded and then greased or (preferably) coated with anti-seize, and then tapped through, but they will work. 9/16" is 14.29mm
knever3
Thanks for all the replies everyone. Tomorrow I will try Fastenall because all good stores are closed on the weekends. I also will grab the right size u-bolts when I am out. I bought some of the wrong size and I tell you what it's nearly impossible to find anyone with 4 in stock. Do they know that's how many are needed for the job?? I guess they are not that common. I hope to get my rear axle installed tomorrow.
