clarkerussell
Well, I started pulling the rubber mat out of my truck to replace it with a new one. Looks like I should have done this much sooner as the driver side floor is rotted out... Crap... I've never had to deal with rust before, but here is what I'm up against. The rust does not extend TOO far up, and the frame rails seem fine. It does NOT extend to the rockers, and it does not go up towards the pedals under the rubber mat in the picture, it stops there. What are the repair options and, since I can't fix this myself, what would should I expect to pay a shop to repair? Thanks in advance. clarkerussell
OK, I've contacted the eBay guy to see if he'd sell just the drivers side pan. Does anyone know what a fair price to have it welded back in would be? Thanks. Clarke
Pete M
I don't know how much it'd be, but the safest way to be sure you're getting a fair price is to get multiple quotes.

I am planning on getting one of the floor boards from eBay, but I don't know what to do about the reinforcement piece that forms a cross on top of the pan. It does not look like that's included with the replacement pan and mine is pretty rusted in the front half. Any ideas? Clarke
86manche
I had the same problem though not as severe as yours. I merely cut out the rusted area, cut a piece of aluminum i got for free that was scrap to fit and then riveted it down over the area. A cheap and inexpensive fix and once I covered it with a custom made rubber carpet you can't tell the difference. Something to consider.

I think the support where the seat is installed is fine, it's just the part that runs down the middle that's in front of the cross member that is the problem. clarkerussell
It looks like the Cab Floor Reinforcement WAS available as a separate item, but it's NLA from Jeep... Does anyone know where part number 5700 0894 (#9 on the picture below) can be purchased?

mvusse
That floor is in great shape. This is what the passenger floor in my XJ looked like earlier this week. Driver side is next.

Pete M
Eh. it's just the Flintstones option. My 90 came with that.
mvusse
Surprisingly the seat studs are still fine, and the nuts came off using just a 6" ratchet. Unlike the Comanche that had no studs left.
socal1200r
After looking at those pics of rusted floorboards, I don't feel bad at all on mine, lol! The PO told me she cut out a piece of carpet on the driver's side, because it kept getting wet, in order to let the moisture evaporate. So, I figured I better check the passenger side, and same thing, carpet was soaking wet in the middle, and the insulation was wet going up the trans hump and the channel right by the front bench seat bolts. So I got my box cutter out, cut out a good size piece of the carpet and insulation, so the bare floor was visible. Roughed up the surface with a brass wire brush, wiped down with some rubbing alcohol, ran the shop vac over the surface, let it dry, then hit it with some bedliner spray. Just got back from the auto parts store, and I'm going to cover the floor sections that I bedlined sprayed with some new black rubber mats. I'll probably take the bench seat out and pull up the back piece of the carpet, but that can wait for a while.
