still shooting for Saturday the 20th if you can swing it Greg. I promise it will be worth whatever torment you'll have to face with the Mrs. ;)

For the record, there is now one unemployed "loan specialist" at the mortgage company we're dealing with.

Sniff, sniff.....I don't tolerate incompetence.

One more issue with the landscaping that I'm told will be resolved tomorrow, and we will set the official close date.

UPDATE........

still haven't nailed down the official close date yet due to some last minute "issues". One of them got corrected immediately after I threatened to cancel the closing unless it got resolved  , but the bigger more important one is still up in limbo and unfortunately out of my direct control at this point (dealing with the VA to get my certificate of eligibility reissued to me......the mortgage co. dropped the ball on filing the correct paperwork and I haven't gotten the new COE yet). On a happy note, the mortgage "specialist" that was handling our sale is now unemployed, or at least not employed by the mortgage company she used to be with

We're still hoping to close mid-to-late next week and do the move on the 20th (we're doing the final walkthru inspection tomorrow afternoon in preparation), but there is a slight possibilty that we may have to postpone the closing until the following week as we wait for the VA. As soon I we confirm everything, I'll update y'all again.....PM me some phone numbers if you want me to call you directly, especially if you're planning on traveling any distance to come for the hoedown.

I also completely understand that if we do not move on the 20th as we were planning and anyone can't make the rescheduled date (if that has to happen). My wife and I are extremely grateful to all of you to even offer to come help us, even if you can't make it.

Jeff, I dropped the bomb on wifeypoo yesterday. Not as bad a reaction as I thought, but we have a wedding to go to Sat. night the 20th. Assuming we will start moving your "stuff" Sat. a.m., good chance I'll still make it down, I just won't get to pop back as many sodas as I had planned since I'll need to leave early afternoon. Now it depends on how much packing/loading I get done for vacation on Friday night. :brows:

well...yer still walking and talking Greg, so it couldn't have gone THAT bad ;) Bring her along....she can kibbitz with all the other women-folk on where to put the dishes, what color curtains would look nice above the commode, etc......while the rest of us proceed to hammer down some booze and grill some dead animals out back :D

Seriously, there's gonna be a gaggle of women folk here, and we're prepping libations and grub for everyone (chicken breasts, wine, etc, etc......).

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE.....got home today and there was a nice big fat envelope from ARPERCEN in my mailbox that had copies of my DD214, points statement, and seperation from service (honorable, of course) inside jamminz.gifjamminz.gifjamminz.gifjamminz.gif

Looks like it's game-on for the 20th, but I'll still post an update once I get the paperwork to the VA and they issue my COE.

You all don't know me so well, kind of new to the forum, but I showed this to the wife and she said she would like to help out. The food sounds great and with the list of movers you have it should not be a bad time. I will have to give my answer closer though as her work might pose a problem.

Hey man, sorry I didn't see your post when you put it up. Welcome to the CC, and THANKS for the offer  You and yours are more than welcome to come on over if it fits your schedule, even if you can't help with the move per se......there will be plenty of partying going on. I'm setting this up as more of a meet and greet than a desperate plea for help :D C'mon over, and meet up with us!

Not looking good for the trip next weekend... Unseen issues and and lack of funds sucks.. I am going to try and work something out, but its seeming damn near impossible to get any answers from the Veterans Affairs... I will keep you informed if any changes occur though..

guys....there's too much shiat that has to happen "perfectly" in order for us to close and move on the 20th (although it may happen, but I doubt it). So, I''m officially moving the move date to the 27th, just to be on the safe side. Best possible scenario right now is that we close on the 19th, and I can't say with 100% certainty that's gonna happen. I'd rather err on the safe side and call the 27th...........all the more time for me to buy booze and eats for yinz anyhow

Well, one minor victory and one step closer to closing.....I locked in the interest rate late yesterday for 30 days at 4.875%. It should have been 4.5% but the mortgage co f'ed up (long story I won't go into, but they fired our "loan specialist" and I'm still steaming over it). Sod is being put in as we speak, and the VA appraiser "should" be out tomorrow or Thursday to do the final appraisal. We go back on Thursday for the final walkthru to make sure they fixed the 300 little things we found wrong on the post-construction walk (Missi and I were in a very pizzed off mood when we did it and we didn't show any mercy.....used a half a roll of blue painters tape to mark EVERY little thing)

Remotely slim chance we go to close late this week, but the move is still not gonna happen until next Saturday the 27th. We need to get in and hang blinds, shower curtains, etc....and I need to seal the garage floor and let it cure up a few days anyway. I know if I don't do it now while it's empty, it'll probably never get done. I know how I work

They screwed up here on the side and went way over the property line (see the stake by the hydrant?)

That caused them to run short in the back….. :shake:

So the construction manager is going to have them finish off their screwup all the way to the silt fence (for free) and then have them finish off the back as planned :chillin:

I’m actually kind of enjoying this whole house-building adventure

Congrats!

Better open the floodgates and keep that green stuff from getting thirsty. :D I've seen way too many insta-lawns get bad spots after the first year due to lack-o-maintenance. :(

Or in the case of my own front lawn, the road crew dumps in crappy soil and the lawn takes bi-annual infusions of fertilizer to stay healthy. :fs1:

Great looking place Jeff! I love insta-lawn. When I built my house in Richmond in 2000 they sodded the front, it really is cool to go from dirt to grass in 1 hour. Impressive that they sodded your front AND rear, and that ain't no small yard. Again, congrats!

Jeff,

The house and lawn look great. Moving the date ahead was a brilliant way to get Hoo off the schedule, but not quite enough to get me to drop. Unless the move-in date is July 4th, I will still be coming up :wavey: . I think I am going to leave Friday - just in case I run into any troubles on the road. See you on Saturday - Rich

I'm here.. I'm moving too Jeff.. Going to school full time, without working, dependent on the GI Bill to pay the bills... its stressful to say the least.... I was really looking forward to coming up there and helping out. I will need a break.. I will get one when Summers over,, you can bet your sweet arse on that... Just have to see how things pan out here in the near future.. I mean hell if anything I could always pack the XJ and head north... I'm not saying yes,,,, but thats not a no...... ughhhhh this sucks....... I just can't give you a certain answer right now.. I will try though... I can promise you that.

If you can make it JT, that's great.....we'll sure show you a good time. If not, I understand completely, no need to justify. I'm sure we'll all meet up sometime, somewhere down the line image_209027.gif

So far, since the sod went down last Tuesday.....2100 gallons of H2O are down, and I just spread 30# of Scott's starter fertilizer on it all after work today.

Water is compliments of the builder, until we close....... :D
