Fuel sending unit

Recommended Posts

I dropped the tank on my '89 MJ this morning to swap in a new tank. Found the soldered joints where the lines pass through the plate broken loose.

Knowing the part isn't available, I decided to repair mine. It turned out pretty good. A propane torch, solder, flux, and a couple of stainless steel brushes were all that was needed.

Biggest issue is getting it clean. I used a stainless steel wire brush, then heated and applied flux, then wire brush again. I hit it several times. Once I was satisfied with how clean it was, more flux and sweated the solder in.
