stupid wiring/ground issues

So after a good rain we had the other day I went for a cruise in the pioneer and when I hit the brakes my headlights came on. Then I turned my lights on and when I hit the brakes again the brights turned on. If I have my brights on, the headlights shut off..... Made me laugh though.  I also don't have blinkers on either side. I recently replaced the running light sockets to attempt a quick fix and it did not fix the issue(rockauto had them for $1.86 each). The wires from the rubber grommet in the cab floor to the connector at the rear harness have been replaced. Also I'm running putco harness up front. Any suggestions to point to the right direction would be awesome!

Did the headlight problem start after you installed the harness?

Yes it did, I wanted to upgrade lighting anyways and hoped it would help the issue.

Look at this connector featured in the photo. I would do all of them if it were me.

How many of my Tips have you completed?

I did go through the sensors, connectors, and anything a wire plugs into and cleaned what I could and topped off with dielectric grease. Ill go back through the main headlight connector again. I'm pulling a part my xj donor this weekend and will hopefully start my drivetrain/dash/floor shifter swap before winter.

Sooo I've tracked the issue back to the tail lights. From the connector behind the bumper to the bulbs the PO had spliced in multiple areas and used duct tape to wrap them up. Some wires weren't even connected. I believe he tried to wire in a trailer harness at some point. I want to go through and run fresh wires. Can anyone dumb down a wire schematic for me? I looked in the hanes book and the cherokee set up looked more like what I seen on my truck vs. the schematic for an mj. I got a fogged brain trying to do wires.
