Rubicon t case doubler?

Recommended Posts

I just recently purchased a Rock Trac t case that came out of a 2010 JK that had 30k miles on it. I'm looking at the very least replacing the 231. I have plans on doing the AW4 to AX-15 or Nv3550 swap. While swapping the tranny that's when I plan on going with the Rubi case. My first question is will the Rock Trac bolt up to the AX-15 as I know that the Rock Trac was only bolted up from the factory to the NV3550 and the NSG370? My next question is what do I do with my speedo? I was thinking of just running without it. It's more of a trail rig anyway. And the last question is: since I do have 2 other Np231's lying around, has anyone done or heard of someone doing a 231/241 doubler? I've tried to research a kit for the rubicon mating to the 231 and I've come up empty-handed. The only thing that pops up on the radar is the northwestfab kit for a 231 mated to their ecobox. It doesn't mention the rock Trac that I'm aware of. Any help would be much appreciated.

It's a short 23 spline input, so it will bolt to any 23 spline Jeep AW4, AX-15, NV3550, etc.  Likewise it will bolt to the NWF setup, but call Kris? I think is his name, anyways, call NWF sales and ask, he does know what he's talking about.

Same for any of the other doubler kits out there.  It should work.

You will need different yokes/output flanges.

I don't think the JK case even has a speed sensor as it uses wheel speed sensors for everything.  If you want a speedo the options would be to get an output flange style VSS and speedo that works with it (oh, that would be expensive), go to a VSS on one of the axles (if you have an ABS tone ring anywhere that can be done, also expensive and complicated), go to a GPS speedo (not terribly expensive, Autometer, Speedhut, etc all make them), use a free app on your cellphone and tape the phone to the dash (or use a holder, cheap either way), or mark the tachometer to indicate speeds in certain gears...

Thanks. I was looking at doing the 231/241 doubler that involves a kit from Froehlich Suspensions. Have you heard of this company? I've got two spare 231's lying around that I could pick from to hack on. And as for the speedo thing I might just do the auto meter gps gauge

Yeah, you may want to do a little bit of research before dealing with him. Or don't and become one more of the long time disappointed customers. Been on the receiving end of his "quality service" save yourself the trouble.

Please don't and look elsewhere. We had to shut him down on another forum because of taking money with no product return. I don't like bashing vendors but that whole incident was ridiculous. Over 100 members were screwed over.

I know Kris and haven't had problems dealing with him but i have always dealt with him locally.

As far as i know his kit is basically a copy of the box 4 rocks, mad rooster,ect..... Personally i would spend a little more and get something like the NW fab black box,the eco kit isn't a whole lot more money and IMO much better than a hacked up 231 case.

Yeah I'm kinda leaning toward the ecobox plus wouldn't I have more clearance compared to a hacked up 231?

The eco would be slightly smaller so you could gain some clearance.

I have a Behemoth in my MJ which is similar to the eco box,i moved my powertrain up into the cab giving my truck a completely flat belly, nothing hangs below the unit frame.

I had to build a new tunnel and part of the floor but the doubler fits between the seats and the half of the rear case sits under the drivers seat.
