81Chero
Someone posted that WIX 51515 is an added capacity filter than the standard 4.0L filter. Also, NAPA dose have a Platinum line for Synthetic oils. That's good info. (should be in the DIY section) I've used Amsoil for over 20yrs in most everything. If I get a high mileage vehicle, I over fill it some with Rotella 15w40 and some seafoam or marvel just to see what's going on with temp or leaks and then after flushing a few times, i switch to amsoil and EA filter 10w30 or 0w20 since It doesn't get that cold here. then change it once or twice a year and filters inbetween. NEVER had an issue. Errol
mvusse
Mobil 1 high mileage 10W30 for synthetic or Quaker State Defy 10W30 for conventional. Both are still API SL and thus still have ZDDP in it. 4 stroke motorcycle oils are all rated API SJ because they need large amounts of ZDDP. Since I work at a Ford dealer currently, I think I will use some Motorcrap.. I mean, craft oil since I get it for a reasonable price. Been tempted to use some of the 10W30 Super Duty diesel oil. But might stick with the 15W40.
big66440
More importantly, which oil filters are you using? There's some real junk out there that can cause damage to our beloved 4.0s with the upside down mounting of the filter. I run either K&N, Parts Master ( Wix ) or Napa Gold.
