Fixing E Brake after 8.8 swap

Recommended Posts

I had to order two driver side cable because they can't even get the passenger side.

Also, according to their descriptions, the difference in length is only .03"

I just bought mine two months ago and they are readily available, still have the bags they came in if you want part numbers.

Drivers side is a stretch..........unless you know something I don't...........

I'm talking about ZJ cables being basically the same length left to right, to use them on a Comanche with an 8.8.

Out of curiosity, what length are the stock cables suppose to be?

They are something like 52".........I'd have to look it up........I have replaced my stock cables with Raybestos cables when I had the D35........they are long.

The ZJ cables are something like 42 inches........and are already too short.

Why must you use ZJ cables? The MJ cables are right at 48".

The stock MJ cables have the wrong end for my 8.8 with disks. I tried rigging it up but it doesn't work right.

Do you have the Ford e-brake lever like the picture I posted above? You should. If so, then use the Ford clevis (the shiny thing) to connect them.

Ebay, $.99/ea:

You can leave the spring on the cable or not. I did not because the ebrake has return springs internally and pulls the shoes back when released.

That was not available when I was looking.

The ZJ cables length worked perfect on my shortbed, and I used a driver and passenger side without any problems.
