Some fotos.  Mine was simple to wire with Painless Performance fuse block, MSD 6AL ignition, mechanical fuel pump and Holley spreadbore 650 CFM 4 barrel with mechanical secondaries that I rebuilt with new floats, Mallory cartridge style fuel filter,  3/8 inch fuel line, new 22 gallon tank, Elelbrock aluminum intake manifold, AA headers made for the conversion, Flowmaster diamond plate off-road muffler,  AA motor mounts, Novak radiator, Allstar Performance power steering pump.  Lakewood bellhousing, SM465 truck transmission,  AA t-case adapter, Mcleod throw out bearing, NP231 with slip yoke eliminator, Detroit Speed Inc. shifter knob, Autometer gauges.   33 x 12.5 x 15 BFG mudterrain on stock wheels modified with DIY beadlocks and 2 inch lift, ome steering stabilizer, Canton Custom Clutch driveshafts.  Single electric pusher fan mounted on front of radiator wired to a switch on the dash that I only use driving at 70 mph highway because I have a mechanical fan and guard from an 87 Comanche.  Normal temperature in the city is never over 180 degrees.

Far from being a dead subject long passed or OP (what ever that means) racing, adding into a car a bigger engine where a smaller one is. That goes back to when 2 men looked at each other at anyplace the first race was on. Then they went out put in bigger whatever the next race was again.

I learned from my dad and the family 57 Chevrolet station wagon with 3 on the tree. I watch him change the brakes pack the wheel bearing and more. When I got back from Vietnam in 66 I drove the family VW. A few days later I went pass the junk yard there sat a 57 2 door sedan Bel Air, a true Bel Air with all the stainless steel trim and a straight as can be. It had no engine no trans and no pumpkin. With the separation money given to me from the Army. I was the new owner of a black 57 Bel Air 283 power pak heads Duntov 30-30 cam a Rochester 4 barrel and a T10 transmission. A year later it was running a 396 Sig cam 550 lift a Muncie M-22 and a 9 inch with 4.56 gearing. Did not get you anyplace fast it was hell stop light to stop light.

As soon as management gets back to me about up-loading pictures I will up-load the install. The final plan is LSX 427 Doug Nash 5 speed and an up graded 9 inch.

Automatics and air condition are for sissies

The "management" has nothing to do with posting pictures in threads. You need to upload your pics to Facebook, Photobucket, Flickr or any other picture hosting site you choose.

You can follow the instructions in the link below for more guidance.

In 1951 I helped my uncle swap a Ford flat head into a 1944 MB. Been swapping engines into Jeeps ever since. At first he was going to use Chevy 6 but couldn't make up his mind whether to cut a hole in the firewall or in the grill for the extra foot of engine to hang out so he went with the Ford. I am not a Ford man but have always preferred small block Fords because of their size, weight as compared to a Chevy. In my personnel opinion, the best combination Jeep ever came out with was when they used the Buick engines, 225 V6, 350 and 401 V8'S. In 1970 I crammed a Lycoming 360A1 into a '55 CJ. It was NOT a roadworthy machine, meant strictly for the drag strip. No matter what engine you decide to go with, the key to a successful swap is careful planning. and a little common sense.
